Sebastian

After we left Brookings we met up with Mimi, Pop-Pop, Russ, Sloan and Finn in Medford, OR for a week.  Mimi and Pop-Pop had rented a house for us - it was great the kids could run around in the yard and there was a horse, donkey and a dog on the property.  Sebastian was the donkey and the kids had fun watching him and petting him.  We had a great week at the house and it was nice to all be together but each have our own space.

Here they are meeting Sebastian.

Brookings, Oregon

We stayed in Brookings, Oregon for our night on the coast at a cute Bed & Breakfast.  We had dinner on the water and then the next morning we went for a walk on the beach.  We were on the beach at 7:00 and it was so peaceful.  A bit chilly but worth it to be on the water.

 Love this one!

We were trying to get a family picture but Sage refused so just the two of us!

Catching some air on the beach!

Looking for rocks - her pockets were full at the end of the walk:)

The Coast

We had a great drive up the coast.  The scenery was stunning!  I could have kept going on Highway 101 but we ran out of time.   Here are a few pictures of the beautiful scenery.   Now getting to the coast was another story.  It was a beautiful drive as well but it was through the mountains.  Reese drove the entire way on the mountain roads.  I wasn't a fan of the tight curves and the roadwork it made for a slow drive and this pregnant Momma was very nauseous.

Trees of Mystery

Trees of Mystery was our next stop - it is located just 30 miles south of Oregon right on Highway 101.  It is a great way to see some amazing Redwoods - it is kind of a tourist trap.  But it was perfect for us.  You get to walk on a path and see some magnificent trees.  Then at the top of the path is a gondola that takes you even higher to an observation deck for some amazing views.  It was definitely worth it and we all enjoyed it.

They call these the Cathedral trees and perform weddings there.

I had to include this to show how big these trees are - amazing!

The gondola ride - Sage wasn't to sure about it.

She was DONE with the observation deck.

Sage took this picture - not to bad!

Drive Thru Tree

On our trip up the west coast we stopped in Northern California at the Drive Thru Tree.  It is exactly that a huge redwood tree hollowed out so you can drive through it!  What fun it was!

 Pretty tight fit!

If you look close you can see Reese and Sage waving!

Lake Tahoe

Our first night we stayed in Truckee, CA - about 15 minutes from Lake Tahoe.  We got to our hotel and all took a nap.  We had an early flight that day so we all needed a nap.  We had to wake Sage up to go to dinner.  Had a good dinner and then we all slept in until 5:45am.  Amazing considering the 3 hour time difference.  We all adjusted pretty quickly which was so nice!   We spent the next morning in Lake Tahoe.  It was gorgeous!  We found a state park and went to look at the water and played on the shore.  The water was so pretty with mountains in the background.  Sage wasn't in the best of moods and the only thing that made her happy was throwing rocks and pinecones into the water - whatever works!  As we were leaving the state park I saw a young bear walk across the road.  We were in the car - thank goodness and Reese was able to pull up and we saw it playing in the woods.  A good end to our time in Lake Tahoe.

Showing us how big the pinecones are.  They were huge!

Planes, Trains, & Automobiles

Sage got to ride in all three on the first day of our vacation.  She was so excited for the trip to Oregon.  The night before we left she requested that Papa wake her up.  So I sent Papa into her room at 4:45am to wake her up.  She got up and was ready to go - so excited that was the day she got to get on a plane.  There was no fuss or drama when she got up.  We had our first flight and she was really good. She was very excited that we had to ride a train to get to the terminal for our second flight.  We got her to snooze on the second flight for an hour.   Then when we got to Reno she was confused as to why we didn't have our car.  Try explaining a rental car to a 3 year-old!  We were off to a great start on our family vacation!

She doesn't look happy in this picture - but I promise she was loving the train!

This picture was taken on our second day going from Tahoe to Redding, CA.

15 Weeks

15 Weeks
Total weight gain: +3.5 lbs (can't believe this isn't more - I ate lots on vacation!)

Size of baby: Baby H is the size of an apple

Gender: Going to have to wait until December!!

Movement: Nothing yet - will keep you posted

Sleep:  Getting up only once during the night to go to the bathroom. Still having a hard time falling asleep.

What I miss: Not much!

Cravings: Still loving any fruit that is cold (watermelon, blueberries, etc.), Chicken Pad Thai, anything sweet, I have an amazing sweet tooth and I normally go for salty snacks.  I see lots of baking in my future.  I finally had some pasta, and Chinese - yummy!

Clothes: I am still in my regular clothes and haven't brought out the bella band - but it is getting really close:)

Symptoms: Nausea is only occasionally but I still have an amazing sense of smell.  Not really throwing up anymore - YEAH!

Best moment this week:   Sage walking up to me to give the baby hugs and kisses.  She usually does this when she knows she is about to get into trouble.  Smart girl - delaying the punishment!

Happy Birthday Reese!

Today is Reese's birthday!   We are having a very relaxing day except he did have to mow the lawn this morning in 80 degree heat with lots of humidity - not fun.  He and Sage are both napping right now so I figured I would get caught up on blogging.  We have a graduation party later this afternoon and then more relaxing.  He might get a movie in tomorrow with some sushi.  Very low-key celebration!  We love you tons and hope you have a great day!

This picture is from Reese's 40th birthday party!

Pretty Nails

Nana and Papa were visiting for a few days before we left for vacation.  We had a good visit and Sage was very happy when Nana painted her nails for her!  Pink with sparkles!

Lunch with Friends!

We went out to lunch last week with Stephanie and JJ.  We had lots of fun and the kids had way to much energy during lunch.  Good thing it was a drive-in that also has lots of outdoor seating.  Let's just say that Sage wasn't very well behaved at lunch and leave it at that!  This place makes their own Root Beer and I have always wanted to try it - only took me six years to get there.  But it was definitely worth it - I bought a half gallon of root beer to bring home for Reese.  Sage wasn't to fond of the root beer after one taste she spit it out.  Didn't think she would like it - but I did!

New Car!

We finally got a battery for Sage's new car and she was so excited to try it out!   Last week Reese put the new battery in and she was off.  I love living on a cul-de-sac, she can drive her car on the street and you don't have to worry about to many cars going by.  She was driving pretty good - she still needs to work on watching the road and staying to the side not the middle.  Working on it!

Out for a spin!

She had to stop and get gas:)

Lunden and Natalie were both outside so they took their turns driving.  Lunden barely fit in the car!

12 Weeks

I am going to try and do weekly updates with pictures for Baby H #2.  So here is the first one.  We are going on vacation for a few weeks so hopefully I will have a chance to blog while we are gone.

12 Weeks
Total weight gain: +3 lbs

Size of baby: Baby H is the size of a lime

Gender: Going to have to wait until December!!

Movement: Nothing yet - will keep you posted

Sleep:  Getting up about three times a night to go to the bathroom - hoping that will stop soon as I am now in the second trimester.  Having a hard time falling asleep.

What I miss: Sitting on the porch having a cocktail in this beautiful weather

Cravings: Any fruit that is cold (watermelon, blueberries, etc.), pasta, Thai & Chinese food!

Clothes: I am still in my regular clothes and haven't brought out the bella band - but it is getting close:)

Symptoms: I am still nauseous, and have an amazing sense of smell.  Reese was making tuna fish this past weekend and I had to go upstairs to get away from the smell.  Throwing up about once a week and that could end ASAP

Best moment this week:  Sage giving the baby a check-up and using her otoscope to look at the baby through my belly button!

Busy Day at the Zoo

Sage and I went to the zoo last Friday and it was busy.   We had to wait to park and there was a huge line to get into the gates at the zoo.  There were a ton of school groups there and it made for a very busy zoo.  Luckily we have a membership and we can go and spend a few hours and come back another time.  That is what we did: we rode the carousel, the train and had a picnic.  It was a fun morning.

She was so scared on the carousel - which is very unusual.  She normally loves riding the carousel.  She had me get her off the horse and then she sat on a bench after getting off the horse and she was fine.

Getting ready for the train to go!

Time for some fruit snacks!

Special Announcement

I wasn't sure if I was ever going to get to write this post.  It makes me extremely happy to announce that Baby H. #2 will arrive in early December.  We are ecstatic that we are able to add another child to our family.  Sage is so excited that she is going to be a Big Sister!

Here is a picture from our 10 week ultrasound.
